Diesel price hike of Rs 5 per litre, Effective from midnight of 13th Sept.
New Delhi: The UPA government increased the diesel by Rs 5 per litre. The people even shocked when the petroleum minister announced that this increased price will become effective from the midnight of 14th. Along with diesel price the number of subsidized LPG cylinder per family per year is also limited to 6 only, if any family consumes more than 6 LPG cylinder per year, they will have to buy that at market price (which will be decided monthly, currently it’s around Rs-750 per 14 KG cylinder). However the Cabinet Committee of Political Affairs (CCPA), decided not to touch the price of Kerosene oil. another shocking decision is that the Government decided to cut excise duty of Rs 5.50 per litre for petrol.
After announcement of this discretion all the oppositions strongly opposed this stand of the Government, and they told the government to rollback this increased price as soon as possible. The Trinomul Supremo and UPA partner Mamta Banerjee said:
“I am really shocked by the decision. The government did not consult us before hiking the price,”
The Govt. said this hike is to balance the loss which the Oil companies were facing day by day. they said The oil companies loss 500 crore rupees every day, and this hike of Rs-5 per litre in Diesel was obvious and unavoidable. Whereas Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh
“As a party, we are not in a favour of the hike as it hurts the farmers,”
BJP said that this is a trick to deviate the attention from CoalGate scam, and hence we will not move our position and will go for Dharna in every states of this country demanding resignation of the prime minister.
